Brandon Graham draws "Robot doing Stand-up"

One of my favorite things in life is to meet artists and writers that I admire. In my chance meetings at cons or signings, I tend to ask if there is a way a creator could do a sketch and/or commission for me.

Starting today I am going to list my favorite original art and/or commission pieces from my sketchbooks.

This commission piece/sketch is from Brandon Graham. Brandon is not only an amazing artist, but also an imaginative and funny writer. To top it all off, he is also a gracious wonderful person. There are very few people who can inspire you by their work as well as their persona; Brandon is one of the few.

The following sketch he did for me is very special because he drew a Robot doing stand-up comedy in the desert. This is a sketch I asked him to do, but he went above and beyond and essentially showed a part of stand-up that perhaps no one knows. Sometimes (often for me), it may seem like I am performing to a desert, and when it's not going well, I feel like a robot just going through the motions.

This sketch was done at the great San Francisco Comic book store Isotope Lounge. I love this store because the owner James Sime loves comics and is always working towards being innovative.
